FAR CRY (2008)

The movie Far Cry tries to rely on the success of the game to propel the movie to new heights but fails to enthral the dedicated game fans. Its simplistic storyline takes away depth from the previous successful game. The loyal fans of the Far Cry the game would of expected a comparably exciting movie but the lack of depth in the so called plot doesn't put much explanation into the movie when a much needed explanation in certain parts of the story would of helped to explain the history of the insane doctor, the hero soldiers or the stubborn reporter, which could have helped in creating some sort of attachment to the characters. This movie felt like a 80's action flick where the action was supposed to camouflage an empty storyline, most of which it was up to the viewer to fill in the gaps and make sense of what the director didn't deem important. The action in this movie was just enough to take it out of the crap on film pile, but not enough to take it to the must watch or two thumbs up pedestal. So only watch it if you have to, because I'm sure you wont want to.

THE LORDS OF SALEM (2012)

This movie mostly relied on loud noises and surprises to scare its audience, it didn't allow for you to follow the story without getting distracted from loud background noises that happened every time a ghosts would appear. The storyline was based on the devil worshippers that were tortured then killed for their beliefs against church. Heidi a radio DJ who was a descendant was sent a gift containing a record which plays an mysterious tune that puts woman in a trance, causing them to have flashbacks of satanic rituals that were held in the past. The storyline could of tied in the facts about the real witches that were killed in Salem but decided to rush the explanation of a group of worshippers who were killed and now their ghosts crave revenge. The lords descendants coming out of the shadows to fulfil a prophecy that would change the world for the worse sounds promising for a horror movie. Rob Zombie should have involved the cults that are a part of our current times to add a touch of reality creating a more scary atmosphere, but the movie was slow paced and lacked depth which made it hard for any horror fan to stay interested in. THE PACT (2012)

This is one scary movie which the director Nicholas McCarthy doesn't rely on a long script that drowns the suspense with unnecessary dialogue, but more on an immersive scary experience . A lot of the movie leaves the viewer working out the mystery with only subtle hints, which creates a suspenseful atmosphere keeping you on the edge of your seat. The camera angles seemed to put you in third person point of view allowing you to see what the star would of seen just before the moment of horror. The atmosphere created allows you to focus on the scenes at hand and ignore some of the minor faults which can feel as if the story skips some of what may seem important events. Only till the moments have past do you start to understand where the movie is leading you. This horror flick feels like a roller coaster ride that you cant help but to let yourself continue to see where the journey takes you. A must see for the horror fans, and for those who don't like horror movies you better not watch it because it may scare you.

21 & OVER (2013)

Watching this movie is like watching some of the funniest parts that you've seen in other wacky comedies. Deja-vu comes to mind whether its American Pie 2, The Hangover or Meat Balls their wasn't much originality with this flick. Either way it was still entertaining enough to keep you interested for the 93 minutes that it tried to make you laugh with recyclable jokes. The story of a 21 year old who his father wants him to go to medical school and his son has other plans and decides to go out the night before his medical school interview seems to be simple enough, but the nights disasters is enough to get you to watch the movie. A must see for anyone who missed the plethora of comedies that have come out in the last ten years.

A lot of games have used the same formula, but very few have done it well enough that make them stand out from the millions of game apps that are growing in the marketplace. The level ups persuade you to continue the chase for the rewards that get bigger and bigger, creating an addiction not to give up. Running from the security officer and his dog bring out the cheeky side of us that rebels against any authority we can as long as it means we can still get away with what we've done. The game play and graphics are smooth and good enough not to deter you from the simple story. Designed for anyone to play who have a few spare moments to kill. A must download and not just because its free.

REAL STEEL (2011)

Real Steel a boxing movie taken up a couple of notches by introducing robots in the fighting game. Now fight scenes are more dramatic where only metal on metal could produce such raw violence without the feeling of human loss. The movie tries to change the bond between man and robot by creating a parent like figure between Max and his robot Atom. Max replacing the robot for the father figure that was never there. The drama between Charlie (Hugh)  and Max (Dakota) is what separates this movie from any action sci-fi movies that don't have much feeling. The action is plentiful and the drama is just enough to keep your interest without forgetting that main reason for watching this movie is to see the robots collide. A must see for those who enjoy a little drama mixed up with a lot of robot bashing.

CANDY CRUSH SAGA

Addiction or humiliation, what ever the reason we keep on playing it. Enticing young and old by its simple design cleverly attracts curious minds to the repetitive fun. Humiliation can also be the motivator that urges us to play to show those who have played before us that we better than them. Seeing a picture of your friends is like a taunt they would of shared if they were in the same room, trying to distract you from beating their high score. Or could the colours of the candy be enough to bring us back for more, creating a hunger within the game. Whatever it is the game has nailed it , simple colourful , addictive and the challenge to show your family and friends you kicked their ass at something they have probably played day in day out. So highly recommended but be warned playing Candy Crush may follow with you stop doing other things that are equally important like eating.

RISE OF THE GUARDIANS (2012)

A memorable movie for kids and adults alike, visually very impressive with a unique story that keeps you wanting more. The fast paced action keeps your face glued to the screen and the story brings you closer to your childish imagination. Chris pine, Alec Balwin, Jude Law, Isla Fisher, and Hugh Jackman add to the brilliance of this movie. They bring their characters to life with witty jokes and creative acting that brings the animation together creating a more believable world. Jack Frost, North, Pitch, Tooth and Bunny all in the one movie adds conflict between the fairy tales that were never meant to be a put together but worked extremely well creating scenes that could of only happened with this mismatch of characters. A must see for all families who want to actually spend time enjoying what their kids are watching . This movie gets both thumbs up for family entertainment.
