PRIDE IN TRUTH
Pride can be a good thing when it is based solely on the undeniable truth rather than personal feelings which is why people feel comfortably confident to stand proud for what is deemed as objectively right. Having too much misplaced pride can affect the positives of what true pride can bring you because once someone's opinion is ruled by their emotions than what is objectively right is now pushed aside to make room for what is now considered the new priority "How do you feel about the uncomfortable facts?" and "How can we make the worlds issues less triggering". When you let your pride get in the way of the truth then your moral compass can no longer be relied on to guide you to the facts because now your first line of defence is "My truth is" which will always change to suit whoever makes the most noise. When did "Sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me" lose its power?, was it the moment that we thought that it is better to support the weak minded ones who's grip on society is furthest from reality while those who are resilient enough to handle the truth just have to bear it. This all sounds fine and dandy, but we should ask ourselves one important question, Is the world a better place now that we've let the fragile mindsets lead us?
