Good deeds can easily be confused and referred to as a selfless act. Everything we do deep down is about "How will it benefit us ?" At first glance what we're doing is for someone else's benefit but the positive action we set out to do for them results in enhancing our own happiness. Being human means our emotions drive us to do what will lead us to a happier lifestyle so if being good to others creates positive energy coming back then karma is the reason we set out to do good.
