What may seem trivial to some people can be very important to others because where we may be similar with our primal needs its our wants that can distinguish our differences. A want is something unnecessary but it is desired, where as a need is something that is essential and is required for life. What we want can divide us to to focus on our own objectives which may require us to push others to the side so we can get what we want. Our wants can change from day to day which forces us to change our stance with it, even if it means changing our ethics to suit. Our fundamental belief system may have to be ignored because the truth might not jel well when contradiction hits us. People make rules for themselves and expect others to follow them even if they don't. So treat people as you want to be treated and you won't find yourself changing your ethics to suit. You fundamental belief system should not be compromised by your measly desires. Honour yourself as you would like people to honour you.
